The NFL is celebrating the Super Bowl’s golden anniversary this season, but the halftime show will have a little more “Yellow” to it. That 2000 hit is sure to be among the songs played by the band Coldplay as they headline the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show. The choice of the British alternative rockers is a bit of a change from halftimes of the recent past. The last three years have seen pop stars Bruno Mars, Beyonce and Katy Perry take the stage. But even those shows included some elements of rock, as Mars played a song with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Lenny Kravitz joined Perry last February. Included in the announcement of Coldplay as the headliner was the possibility of some similar special guests being involved, meaning the 2016 show could again include musicians from different eras and genres.
