The vote for Louisiana senator was too close to call in the November 2014 elections, so a re-election was held on Dec. 6. Republican Bill Cassidy emerged the victor, and now Republicans hold nearly all of the senate seats in the South. But incumbent Mary Landrieu left office knowing she had many other victories in her time as senator.
